A Type 2 charging cable (Mode 3) is used to connect an electric car to a public charging station or a permanently installed charging infrastructure.
Type 2 is the European standard (IEC 62196-2) and is used by almost all electric vehicles in Europe.
👉 The cable connects:
- Vehicle ↔ public charging station or charging point
Important:
- The cable itself does not contain a control unit
- Communication and control are handled by the charging station
