Operating large appliances such as washing machines and tumble dryers via multiple sockets is not recommended. It is forbidden to plug multiple socket strips together (cascading). In the event of a fire in your home, this will also invalidate your insurance cover.
An electrical circuit fused with 16A is fully loaded with a large appliance such as a washing machine or dryer. It is not possible to operate both appliances at the same time.
The use of extension cables is also not recommended, as this creates an exposed cable which can overheat when heavily used.
Wall sockets in Germany supply a voltage of 230 volts and are fused with 16 amps. This results in a maximum load of 3680 watts. This value should never be exceeded by connected devices. However, not all multiple socket outlets, adapters or extension cables can handle such high loads. Always check the product label. This shows the maximum load capacity.
We recommend always plugging appliances with high power consumption directly into the wall socket.
