Whether brennenstuhl® power strips can be used for commercial purposes depends on various factors.
brennenstuhl® socket strips with plugs according to the "protective contact plug system" meet the requirements of DIN VDE 0620-2-1 and can be used in households or for similar purposes. The socket strips are intended for alternating current with a rated voltage of 250 V and a rated current up to max. 16 A. In this context, the ambient temperature should not normally exceed 40 °C and the average value over 24 hours should not exceed 35 °C, with a lower limit of -5 °C.
This means that brennenstuhl® socket strips connected to the normal household mains (230V) can be used in commercial applications if the above-mentioned conditions fit. The office area is to be classified under "similar purposes" and should match in terms of the prerequisites.
This applies unless industrial ambient conditions prevail at the place of use, which would require the use of plugs and sockets in accordance with the industrial plug and socket standard (DIN EN 60309 - Plugs, socket-outlets and couplers for industrial applications / CEE plug and socket).
In the case of industrial use, the environmental conditions must be observed by the contractor. Socket strips with the appropriate IP degree of protection must be adapted to this and, in the case of more difficult conditions (such as construction sites and other rough operations), products marked with the hammer symbol must also be selected.
Whether household socket strips can be used in other areas, such as production facilities, depends on whether there are other requirements due to humidity, temperature, dirt, dust and other legal regulations.
