The statutory warranty (liability for defects) is valid for 24 months from the date of purchase and is an obligation for the retailer (seller). The seller must guarantee that the goods sold are free from defects. If this is not the case, the customer has the right to repair or replacement free of charge. The defective goods must be sent in for this purpose. If neither repair nor replacement is possible, the customer can demand a refund or a reduction in the purchase price. If the defect occurs within the first 12 months, it is assumed that the defect was already present when the goods were handed over to the customer. After 12 months, the customer must prove this (reversal of the burden of proof).
